This year was another busy year for us. As usual, we continued our support of the Singapore Cheshire Home with visits on the last Sunday of every month. We would wheel the residents out for dinner for which they often eagerly look forward to in great anticipation. At times we also took them to a nearby park for a stroll. While some of the residents have relatives who visit them, there are many who do not have the privilege of such visits or simply have no relatives. Many of them understandably treasure the moments our brethren, families and friends share with them.
Upon the special request of the residents of the Singapore Cheshire Home, the Cheshire Home event organizer requested our assistances in helping them plan their 2005 Christmas Party. It was held on 10th November 2005. That evening, Bro Steve Johnson came dressed up as Santa Claus, complete with white beard and all. Marie Louise, his wife, came dressed as Santa Helper and they brought along their beautiful white dog. The residents had a wonderful time and they each received a present from our Lodge. We also organized the Karaoke that evening.
On 30th October 2005, WBro Brian Shegar and his family sponsored a dinner for the residents of the Singapore Cheshire Home on November 9, 2005. There were 78 residents and staff in all. The menu was well planned to cater to the taste of the residents and was sumptuous. Every resident I spoke to expressed their great gratitude to Wbro Brian and his family for their thoughtfulness and generosity.
Our annual Neoh Thean Hup Jubilee Charity Golf Tournament was held on 10th November 2005. The proceeds of that event went to the Metta Welfare Association and the Singapore Chung Hwa Medical Institution. The organizing committee headed by Bro Devendran did a magnificent job in the planning and the final smooth execution of the event. Many of the participants expressed their appreciation for a very enjoyable tournament and the dinner that followed.
